Bug Description

When using add-apt-repository, new entries are generated in /etc/apt/sources.list.d. When opening the synaptic package manager afterwards and browsing to the list of package sources, all these are listed with their full url, from which it is often difficult to determine what they are actually good for (especially for personal package archives). In said list, it is possible to add a comment which then shown instead of the url.

My proposition is to add a command line option to add-apt-repository to set this comment during the original command line invocation.

$ apt-cache policy python-software-properties
python-software-properties:
  Installiert: 0.80.9
  Kandidat: 0.80.9
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 0.80.9 0
        500 http://gd.tuwien.ac.at/opsys/linux/ubuntu/archive/ natty/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I have created a branch with a potential solution that I couldn't test because the trunk version seems to be incompatible with ubuntu 13.04. Can a software-properties dev test my branch?

Branch: lp:~wolterh/+junk/add-apt-repository-comments

I have now tested this in Trusty, and the compatibility issue seems to be gone. But now, I think I am lost within the source code of this. Stefan do you have any advice for me?
