Bug Description

When I connect my external monitor and choose my correct resolution (1920x1080) I get black non-clickable areas on my screen. I'm not using two monitors at the same time.

It seems that running "unity --replace" at the Alt-F2 prompt fixes the problem until restart.

My monitor model is LR23HVCS801056R. Here is another user reporting the same problem but with 2 monitors:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/39490/how-can-unity-be-made-more-friendly-to-multiple-monitors-on-a-laptop

This not only affects multi monitor set ups but also stand alone CPU+Monitor configurations and laptops connected to an external display.
