Bug Description
Binary package hint: lbreakout2
I've been playing this game since Ubuntu 7.10 (on an older machine with much worse specs) without much in the way of problems. Since switching to 11.04 (clean install) the game has become unplayable. When there is not much going on (one ball in play, no power-ups falling down) gameplay is OK. Once there are several balls in play, power-ups in use, etc (anything that increases the graphics demand) it starts getting very choppy, as if there are a lot of dropped frames, and it becomes impossible to keep track of the ball.
The game worked fine in Ubuntu 10.10, and my hardware hasn't changed (Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, AMD Firestream with proprietary drivers), so I don't know what the difference is. It's not that Unity is using up more resources, because I had the same problem using Ubuntu Classic.

I have a fairly recent video card, fast cpu and memory, and yet this game is not playable any more. I've played it for years on this system.
