Bug Description

It would be cool to have the next feature:
When username text field appears on the greeting screen it should already contain last entered value (normally username) if such exists (it should be only lightdm cache value, not ssh, ConsoleKit or other).
And no checking for user-in-the-field existence, group membership or anything else is performed before authentication (apearing of password field). It should be just last entered value.

KDM has such mode. Windows (XP) also has. Both show user and password fields at the same time, but it's no matter one filed and one after or just two.
This behavior is easy and convenient while using it in a domain environment (ldap, kerberos, etc).

Thanks for attention.

Changed in lightdm:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low

This should be configurable in order to guarantee high security/privacy (for corporations).

such a feature would also help in screensaver-lock situations: when light-locker is used, the user needs to enter both user name and password. if the user name could be remembered, this would behave more like a regular screensaver in that only the password needs to be entered.
