Bug Description

When the window buttons changed the side, I still wanted them to be on the right side. Moving them to the left was a design choice, I respect that although I didn't like it. But one important thing was: I could move them back to the right. I'd like to be able to do so in Unity as well. Because now I have non-fullscreen windows with buttons on the right and fullscreen windows with buttons on the left side. That is pretty inconsistent.

You can use Ubuntu Tweak for easily doing it. But IMO, buttons on the left are now necessary because of the panel integration in maximized windows.

Why would buttons on the left be necessary for maximized windows? They also could be on the right, right next to the notification area, no?

I have to say I'm quite disappointed nothing happened here since may.

I'm not questionning your decision to move the buttons to the left. It's Canonical's design decision. But would it be so difficult to make it possible for experienced users to change them back to the right consistently? This would not affect regular users at all much like gconf-settings don't confuse users that don't want to know about them. And heavy users (like me) would be a bit happpier again.

I am not sure if I can say 'patches welcome" for this one. There is a very little sense in allowing the buttons to be moved to the right, it collides with the unity design in so many ways.
