Bug Description
Instead of running os.system("dpipe vde_plug = vde_plug"), let's use the python vdeplug libraries to connect to the socks, where available. This is useful also to implement cables towards remote hosted switch in transparent way.

Warning: Requires VDE >= r495, so it is disabled in the settings by default. >preferences- >use python support.
To enable it, install vde trunk and enable settings-
