i'm totally clueless about how the freezes occur, it occurs when i'm browsing, using the email program, reading or editing a document. the pointer and the keyboard suddenly freezes and the system can only be restored after a reset or a forced power off.

I'm having the exact same issues with the amd64 build and the non-free Nvidia driver - it's driving me mental. I would love to help any that I can in debugging it.

Found a possible fix by manually upgrading to kernel 2.6.39

thanks, steve for sending the link. i've just upgraded to kernel
*2-6-39-0* although i did not experience any system freeze for the last
3 days.
