First bug for me. Simple Scan is a very good tool. And simple. Will be glad to continue with it.

This problem happens to me everytime I scan many pages in a row. When the RAM of my PC is over, the program crashes.

Other programs, such as XSane, scan to temporary files, so that it is not necessary to keep all the scanned pages in memory, and they allow the possibility to resume scanning what you started some other day.

My workaround for this problem, is scan in chunks of 15-20 pages, and save it as separate files. Then, I join them with pdftk:

pdftk file1.pdf file2.pdf filen.pdf cat output fullfile.pdf

This is a collection of different bugs.
For losing the progress, see #897469
For the problems with your scanner, you might open another bug against sane-backends, but that might be without success, too.
