Bug Description

It would be very useful if Deja Dup could backup via rsync. I believe the underlying duplicity software already supports this?

I am requesting this as I'd like to backup to my DiskStation NAS, but that only seems to allow copying to it via rsync - it doesn't allow ssh, scp, sftp, etc., and annoyingly a straight-forward FTP backup times-out (which I wholly suspect is the DiskStation's fault, not Deja's).

Many thanks for an otherwise excellent application.

Rsync strikes me as a relatively technical, obscure protocol compared to the others we surface in the UI. Not sure I'd want to support it as a toplevel protocol.

Simply implement an interface like Synology DSM. DSM rsync backup UI is very simple.

Deja Dup is moving away from technical, duplicity-specific backends towards more user friendly backends supported by GNOME Online Accounts.

So I'm going to mark this won't fix for now. Sorry.
