Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

In Ubuntu 11,04, while Banshee is open, maximized (this is important) and playing music, if you click on the exit button in the title bar, banshee continues to play music, but in the sound menu (that part is normal I guess). Then, if you try to "unmaximize" any window (other than Banshee) by dragging its title bar (the panel) toward the center of the screen, you will notice that you just can't drag the window anymore without pressing the maximize button. This bug doesn't happen if you minimize banshee rather than close it or if it wasn't maximized before being closed.

Having difficulties reproducing this one,

'Then if you try to "unmaximize" ' at that part, you mean that banshee is in the sound-menu, and *other* windows cant be moved around?

Is this 100% re-occurring on your machine?

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. Yes, I mean that Banshee is in the sound menu and other windows are maximized. It's those windows that can't be unmaximized by draggind their title bar.

I tried this on two different computers with ubuntu 11.04 installed and the bug happens every time.

I'll update the description

You don't seem to understand what I mean by "unmaximize by dragging its title bar toward the center of the screen". I wanted to record my desktop to show you what I meant, but every recorder I tried seems to be buggy as hell, so I'll try to clarify.

Normally, if a window is maximized, you can hold the left click on the title bar (in this case, the panel) and drag the window away from the top of the screen (toward the center), which brings it to a normal size (not maximized). But, when banshee is playing music in the sound menu (like I explained in the description), you can't drag the title bar of any maximized window anymore (the little hand just doesn't show up when i hold the left click on the panel). You need to click on the maximize button first, so that the window comes back to a normal size before you can move it around.

I hope this is a better explanation (english is not my native language, so I am doing my best).

Hi,

This is still not reproducible and I'm following the exact steps you mentioned. Can you run 'apport-collect 781215' so we can see your unity version information?

Thanks,
