upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 (next up) missing modules, won't open

Bug Description

Hello. I just did a new install and then used the updater ..and after finishing install..system re-booted..and now missing modules (cat/proc/modules;1s /dev) and /dev/disk/by-uuid/e751d288-31e8-4a7e-a05a-6cbedbd69a94 doesn't exit...so I'm up on the cd running it live and want to know how to fix this from here or not possible...I'm a total neewb w/ Ubuntu, command line.....but not scared of it either..hate windows..( 7is much improvement ..bt still MS grrr..) thank you :)
