Bug Description

I use Ubuntu alongside Vista on my Dell Studio Hybrid via a 32" flatscreen monitor (setting 1360x768) . I have upgraded Ubuntu from Maverick to Natty and (the process stalls and freezes half way through and the only way to abort is to power off the Studio Hybrid). However, I can boot Natty through the "previous Linux version"option: v 2.6.35-28 generic - this is a fully functioning option. On the last screen before it freezes, the monitor settings are not displayed as they normally do.

Using the Natty torrent ISO which I burned to DVD (rather than CD) I could hear the PC going through the installation motions without seeing the screen (this went blank after selecting "install Ubuntu" option. I disconnected the HDMI connection and reverted to the DVI output (which is connected to the RGB input of the TV monitor via a VGA cable with VGA-to-DVI adapter. Due to the DVI, I have needed to use external speakers for audio. The issue must be related to the HDMI connection to tv/monitor with the Dell Studio Hybrid.

Forgot to mention system is fully functioning now, but I preferred the simplicity and functionality of the HDMI arrangement.

Off the top of my head this matches several independent bugs. Please try again with a more recent set of packages.
