Bug Description

Binary package hint: kget

Kget crashes nearly every time I pause some files. Sometimes it
happens with one download or with the delay function too.
I am using Kubuntu Edgy but same happens in Dapper too.

I have recreated this issue also, using kget version 3.5.5-0ubuntu1, and the KDE Crash Handler returned this information from kget with debug symbols:

It still happens in latest Kubuntu Feisty version.

I have the same problem, but I don't get a detailed error message. If I start KGet from the console, it says after the crash (after pressing Pause): KCrash: Application crashing (KGet), and that's it.

After restarting KGet, it usually has forgotten that download that was paused, unless KGet has before been closed successfully and then restarted.

When one particular download causes this problem, then after restarting KGet it will happen again and again when trying to pause this download. Quitting KGet and restarting it helps sometimes, but not every time. Just now I restarted it about five times until I could pause the download.

I can't see a pattern in what files cause this and which ones don't. All the files are fairly large between about 350 MB and 1 GB. It doesn't seem to matter much has been downloaded of it. Also not from which site it comes.

fixed in kde4, therefore marking as fix committed.

Upstream is not going to fix this in kde3, as the codebase has changed so much.

Dapper will be around for two more years, so that's really sad :-( .

It is. Usually upstream are the ones who have the knowledge of the codebase...

Patches welcome, though.
