Bug Description

I'm not saying we should be like Apple, or like linspire. We should allow donations, and sell install disks for a minimal profit.

I'd think we should look into how both Mint and Ubuntu profit from a "branded" search engine.

I remember back in Lucid or Maverick where the choice between Yahoo and Google flipped somewhat late in the dev cycle, and it was ultimately due to revenue.

I've also read before that Mint makes more off of "search" than they do from donations.

But I have trouble balancing my bank account and I've been on a pension for nearly a decade, a pension that continues to decrease in value :^(

I'm not sure how selling discs would work? I'd think we'd still have to provide free downloads.

Selling discs isn't free. We could have them for sale at Best Buy, or a similar store. They wouldn't be free, thanks to packaging, shipping, etc. They could probably be less than $10 and we could make a decent profit, if they were in paper packages like america on-line disks. We would still provide free downloads. Canonical does this. Take a look in the Ubuntu store. I'd like to look into this branded search.
