Bug Description

Currently, we have no Plymouth splash. Because of this I will assume that either nobody else is familiar with coding for Plymouth or they are too busy to generate one. I have some experience with Plymouth, so I can create one. Unfortunately, I have no idea how/where to get this included in UGR. If JC could open the plymouth code branch to me, that would be awesome.

lp:plymouth-theme-ugr is owned by Team UGR, so you should be able to commit to it. The first commit will have to use the --use-existing flag. I suggest you take a look at the things below. We can mod the original Ubuntu package, and then add it as a dependency in ugr-desktop-g3

Original Ubuntu package here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/plymouth-theme-ubuntu-logo
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/natty/plymouth/natty/

Can somebody capture a video of my new ugr-super theme? It has a different theme for startup, standby, resume and shutdown.

super is currently broken - it has a blank screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/plymouth-theme-ugr/+bug/779742
Until super is fixed, use plymouth-theme-ugr-logo

super has been fixed by Chris. As requested, a (really short) video of super:

The splashes are now in dev channel and working.
plymouth-theme-ugr-logo is just a simple background - not even a loading indicator
plymouth-theme-ugr-super is a really cool theme

Note that plymouth-theme-ugr-super will be the default if both are installed. These themes will automatically override any other themes on the system.

Now we just need to test a bit more and get these in ugr-meta as dependencies.

@Daniel I like that one very much... We should consider using that as our default boot wallpaper. Lets continue the discussion over here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/plymouth-theme-ugr/+bug/785776
