Bug Description
Reproducable.
Attached usb-stick immediately results in high CPU range 81-89 %.
CPU fan races from ~1200 to ~2200 rpm.
Copy 350+MB from local hd to usb-stick. (Side note: more or less slow Bug #392089)
After finished, open palimpsest to unmount usb-stick.
Result: palimpsest freeze, mouse freeze.
Switch to tty, kill palimpsest and gvfs-gdu-volume.
Back to desktop CPU slowed a little down, range 69-72 %.
Reopen palimpsest, CPU races again to ~80+%
Unmount and safely remove usb-stick. CPU slows immediately down to 2-3%.
It doesn't occur when usb-hd is switched on.
It didn't occur in Maverick.
USB-stick is FAT32, usb-hd is ext4 and fat32.
FWIW.

FWIW, I'm seeing this similar phenomenon, but with a Debian 2.6.38-2-amd64 kernel running on an HP EliteBook 2540p. It is probably a bug in upstream 2.6.38 kernel.
