I was just upgrading. I may previously moved some links making java point to sun jvm, but it was some time before.

Mine problem, i had replaced /etc/alternatives/java with a binary executable file (not a link) so readlink failed during the preprocess script. i was able to fix it by removing it. i think if i restaured it to a link pointing to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java it would have made the job.
