Bug Description
The options in the messaging menu for 'Contacts' & 'Compose a New Message' shouldn't be there. These seem more like context menu options that belong in launcher integration, and have no place in the messaging menu. My understanding of the messaging menu was that it contains the application and a list of notifications. So for example if a new mail notification is waiting it should show the folder with an unread count.

Hey Mark,
Thanks for the bug report!
Looking at the Messaging Menu article on the Ubuntu Wiki (https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/MessagingMe nu/), I can find no explicit mention on what items should / should not be in the Messaging Menu. Indicators for sure. Application shortcuts are a bit murkier.
The strongest argument for adding these shortcuts: it's what's already included with Evolution (https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/MessagingMe nu?action= AttachFile& do=get& target= mockup. jpg) - and we'd like to be consistent with that (leveraging some recognition over recall there).
Thanks,
-Mike
