Bug Description

I have focus follows mouse enabled, and if there are any windows
open, I can't do things to files on the desktop because the global
menu retains the focus of the last window (if I understand what is
going on correctly).

Example: try to rename a file on the desktop with F2, but just end up renaming a file in the file manager window that happens to be open. If I go to a workspace with nothing in it, it is OK.

I can right click and get to rename, but any keystrokes to type in the name go to the other window.

System:
Just updated to 11.04 natty with gnome 2.32.1
2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Using compiz and unity.

I see the similarity to bug #674138, but in this bug (#775948 ), the Desktop never gets keyboard focus whether or not I am going for the global menu. In the other bug, the problem is other windows pick up focus while moving the mouse from one place to another.

I don't see the solutions proposed for 674138 giving focus to the desktop.

I don't see this as a duplicate. Bug #674138 is basically a feature request for sloppy focus.

This is clearly a bug. The desktop shortcuts do work, but only if no other windows are open and available to get the focus.
