Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, sbackup 0.11.3, standard package install (sbackup log file attached).

Due to the bug #709338, I tried to restore files via the command line by unzipping the file first, but the file seem to be corrupt

sudo gunzip -v /mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz > files.tar produces the following error:

/mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz:
gzip: /mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz: invalid compressed data--crc error

Given that there are no error in the log, the file has not been copied or touched by anything other than sbackup I'm now somewhat concerned that non of the backup are of any use

gzip: /mnt/BackupDisk/LeosStuff/2011-05-01_02.00.06.516020.LeosLinux.ful/files.tar.gz: invalid compressed data--length error

Can you check if your files are truncated at 2Gb? This happens on filesystems that don't support files larger than 2G and currently Simple Backup does not check for this error.

The file is about 350GB and it gets to at least 120GB (that's the last time I looked) before it fails.

Thank you for using sbackup and for taking the time reporting this bug.

In order to track down the cause of the problem some more information are required. Please answer the following questions:

* Is the bug reproducible; does it happen every time?
* is your backup destination on a local drive or remote?
* do you run sbackup as superuser (root) or as regular user?
* Do backups work in general for you?
* Do manual backups (started from Configuration GUI) work as expected?
* How do you invoke the backup process?

Please also add version numbers of your TAR and gzip.

Thanks for your help.
