Wubi: Ubuntu won't fully boot

I'm using Windows 7 (64 bit). I used the latest Wubi to test Ubuntu and Kubuntu 11.04 (64 bit) on my ASUS laptop (G53JW-SX029V). At first (K)Ubuntu seems to boot normally as I'm greeted with the splash screen, but then the screen freezes and see my windows 7 desktop (the wallpaper in blocks).

This problem maybe related to upstart as init or systemd based distrobutions give me no problems starting from an usb stick

By the way, I did manage to complete the wubi installation in safe mode, but after reboot it starts up in a terminal session. The startx command gives an error.

When starting X.org Server 1.10.1 this is the output:
