Just upgraded to Natty. After doing all upgrades and updates, on opening gnome-terminal, I get a window but no command prompt. I can type in the window and the text appears but commands aren't acted on.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot.
