Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
I attempted to upgrade from Dapper to Edgy using the recommended (gksu "update-manager -c") method.
After a while, I got this error message:
===
Could not intall '/var/cache/
The upgrade aborts now. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
===
The upgrade kept running. And several hours later, I got this one:
===
Could not install the upgrades
The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery was run (dpkg --configure -a).
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/
installArchives() failed
===
This time, the upgrade really stopped.
I have no plans to try rebooting until I've convinced myself that this system will still boot.
