Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-control-
I have a System76 Lemur Ultra Thin laptop with an external HDMI monitor connection. I'm able to plug in my HP Compaq LA2405wg monitor via a DVI to HDMI converter and, using gnome-display-
I upgraded to 11.04 from 10.04.
I used to be able to turn off the Laptop screen and the HP screen would become the default. When I do that now both screens go blank (I have the power manager set to blank the screen when the lids closed but the system is on AC power.
When I click on the HP screen in the GUI and click Make Default I get a pop up that says:
Authentication is required to install multi-monitor settings for all users. etc...
The details say:
polkit.subject-pid: 1804
polkit.caller-pid: 2396
Action: org.gnome.
Vendor: GNOME Monitor Preferences
I authenticate and it says that those will be the defaults when the next user logs in.
I log out and log back in and the laptop screen is still the default.

Running sudo gnome-display- properties didn't solve the problem, it just skipped the authentication stage.
