Bug Description
Binary package hint: k9copy
"dvd is not opened" message pops up when I try to copy to ISO image or to other DVD on the fly. Also, the title and menu information is not populated in the window.
I can play any DVD just fine using Kaffeine.
I have the DVD to copy in my dvd reader drive, and a blank DVD-R in my dvd writer drive. If I put the DVD to copy in my dvd writer drive and try to rip an ISO, i get the same result.
This is the command line output when starting k9copy:
find: /dev/bus/
find: /dev/bus/
find: /dev/bus/
find: /dev/bus/
find: /dev/bus/
find: /dev/bus/
There is no command line output when trying to copy.
If I run as root, I get a different output on starting k9copy:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
kdeinit: Can't connect to the X Server.
kdeinit: Might not terminate at end of session.
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
kded: cannot connect to X server :0.0
DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-20660' to 'kded'
kded: ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed.
When running as root, if I try clicking "copy DVD", i get this:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
knotify: cannot connect to X server :0.0
ERROR: KUniqueApplication: Registering failed!
ERROR: Communication problem with knotify, it probably crashed.
Whether I run as root user or normal user, whenever I click "copy DVD", i get this message from the gui: "dvd is not opened", and no title or menu information is populated.

I think you just need to perform File -> Open... (press Ctrl-O) action in order to read DVD layout.
You should run k9copy as normal user and not as root.
