There isn't a Battery status notifier in the system status area, which is a big problem, considering I'm using a laptop.

Hi there,

did you try to start the gnome-power-manager using a console? I thnk it helped on my notebook.

I had to revert to the normal Natty because there was an issue with hard drive space. The partitions on my SSD weren't done correctly, so I only had about 4.9 gigs out of 16 accessible to Ubuntu. I had to reinstall Natty, but now I have about 9 gigs. 9.8 if you include my SD card, which I use for documents and Downloads and stuff.

I have not had a chance to try running it from a terminal, and I do not know how to check if SMBus drivers are in use.

Just run Jockey-gtk. That's the driver manager. See which drivers are in use. Post a list of which ones are.

There are no drivers that appear in that driver manager on either system. Its actually the same computer, just one of the installs is my ubuntu/xubuntu/gnome3 mashup main install (it works, and uses the GNOME 3 team's PPA without UGR), and another is pure UGR(no icon). They are on different partitions.

This bug has been fixed with the new power manger. Unfortunately, the battery icon is very small. Like so small I had to zoom in to tell what the heck it was.
