Bug Description

Binary package hint: vlc

This issue is very easy to reproduce in Natty :

- Install VDPAU / VA
- start VLC
- enable experimental hardware decoding
- play any video file

-> it crashes instantly (please see provided backtrace). It used to work properly in Maverick (except with some rare file formats).

Same problem here, and although the backtrace already attached to the bug should be more useful for diagnostics, I have also attached some information, namely a strace for the vlc crashing when trying to play some content, with the "enable experimental hardware decoding" option enabled. Hope it helps.

Same problem here. It worked fine in 10.10. I am using nvidia drivers -geforce 9600- (tried all options from system->preferences->additional drivers and also the binary driver from nvidia)

It looks like the problem is in libva. Running vainfo command gives a segmentation fault...
