Have exactly the same problem. I use Gimp on Kubuntu 11.04, kernel 2.6.38-8-generic

Found a solution:

Change the GTK appearance in the system configuration (appearance of a program) to an other than oxygen-gtk. I use Raleigh and it works fine!

Ok, this is a solution for me, but not for a final release !

Yes.
Passing to raylight works ,
And then if you pass back to the oxygen theme it continues to work.
