Bug Description

When I try to adjust the volume using my multimedia keys on my Asus Laptop they wrong volume is adjusted. The "Headset" volume is adjusted but makes no changes to the speaker volume. I have set the volume applet to adjust the correct volume but would like to know how to adjust the volume from my multimedia keys to avoid the volume control applet all together.
Be sure to email me if you have any other questions.
Laptop is an Asus A7f Series with an snd-hda-intel sound driver.

Additionaly I think this may be an issue...
My volumes are not controled properly... Examine the screenshot for more details.
I would be nice if we had a standard for how these controls worked int eh volume control manager in gnome. But that can be a feature request.

This has been solved in Feisty or in other words the next version of Gnome. You can now select what device you would like for use as your volume buttons. Very nice feature and much needed. (It is found in System Preferences Sound)
You may now mark this bug as fixed.
Thanks for listening. (:
