Bug Description

Hi,

While using GIMP under 11.04 Beta 2, if you try to change the font of the text, the mouse can't grab the slider. It is impossible to change the fond using mouse. I had to use the wheel to select desired font from among 200 fonts. Must be fixed before final release.

requires a gtk+ patch, the overlay scrollbar can't do nothing to avoid this behaviour

Steps to reproduce:

1- Install GIMP
2- Launch GIMP
3- Select the font tool (letter A in the toolbox)
4- On the font selection part of the toolbox, click on the font selector (Aa).
5- Move the pointer to the left of the scroll indicator to make the scroll control/grabber appear
6- Click and hold on the control/grabber as if you were to drag it up/down

Upon doing this the font selection combobox closes/disappears. There's no way to use the scrollbar.

If gimp is started from a terminal thus:

LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 gimp

then it uses the old-style scrollbars and everything works as it previously did.

This is on Natty (11.04) with these versions of relevant packages:

ii gimp 2.6.11-1ubuntu6.1 The GNU Image Manipulation Program
ii liboverlay-scrollbar-0.1-0 0.1.12-0ubuntu1 Scrollbar overlayed widget - shared lib
ii overlay-scrollbar 0.1.12-0ubuntu1 Scrollbar overlayed widget

Just curious about Launchpad system. Which bug should be marked duplicate: the one which was filed first or which was filed later? How can this bug be duplicate of bug #803163. Instead bug #803163 should have been marked duplicated of this bug. It doesn't matter much as log as it gets fixed, but I do want to understand how Launchpad works.

I marked the bug to be duplicated, because I prefer the other bug title and description

Thanks for your explanation. So, there is no point in users first checking if the bug has already being filed and duplicate it wasting the time of others who already filed it or discussed it. Its not about any guidelines, but just preference? Can't the title be edited and made appropriate? Because this behaviour will discourage users to file bugs or discuss them, just to find that it has been marked 'duplicate' of a newly filed bug rendering useless all the discussion that happened on the report. It will also start a trend of filing bugs without checking if its already filed.

I agree with you, just I was in a hurry (new scrollbaI agree, release today) and I don't have much time to spend in editing titles and such, unfortunately. I'll try to keep a better eye in the future, to avoid these mistakes.

@Andrea. I appreciate that. I also appreciate the hard work you r putting in it. I am contributing as much as I can by filing reports and writing about Linux and Ubuntu in our Muktware.com.
