Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Booting from the ubuntu natty live CD (2011-04-25) in German shows incomplete localization of the desktop (screenshot attached). The calendar appears localized, however "Add event" and "Time and Date Settings" are not translated. "Install Ubuntu" is translated, but the menu: Applcations, Places, System is not translated.

This seems to be the intended behavior for languages that are not included on the CD. However, the documentation states that German is supposed to be on the CD.

This is the same for French, which is also supposed to be on the CD.
Note that the installer run in the intended language, and assumes the correct default language, based on the language chosen before boot.
It's not clear to me what the intended behavior is supposed to be.
However, my expectation is that if a language is offered at the boot menu, then that language is used for the live session.

summary: - Live CD German localization incomplete

Setting to triage. The documentation needs to mention what's actually on the CD and available for the live session.

Some languages have since been removed from the live CDs, due to lack of space on the CD. So, this is a not a bug in the live session.

It is surprising behavior that languages are listed on the boot menu that the live CD does not support. I assume the average user would pick a language under the assumption that the live session would be run in that language. This is open to discussion.
