Bug Description
Binary package hint: banshee
Every time I start banshee it closes two seconds or so after opening.
I have tried with and without plugins.
This message is displayed if started from a terminal window:
Debug info from gdb:
Could not attach to process. If your uid matches the uid of the target
process, check the setting of /proc/sys/
again as the root user. For more details, see /etc/sysctl.
ptrace: Operation not permitted.

a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries
used by your application.

UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
Could you try running:
sudo sysctl kernel. yama.ptrace_ scope=0
banshee --debug
And then posting the output here? It looks like there's a separate bug in mono
that does not handle gdb attaching properly, so this is a workaround to get a
proper backtrace.
To be safe, you could set the value back to 1 after you have gotten the output: yama.ptrace_ scope=1.
sudo sysctl kernel.
