Bug Description
Binary package hint: unity
Occasionally after pressing Super to display the screen that contains the search bar and list of shortcuts, nothing I type enters the search bar. During this time, the icons in the list of shortcuts are responsive to hovering with the mouse pointer. When I pressed Ctrl+Alt+Space (a customized shortcut) to open GNOME Terminal, the terminal opened beneath Unity's transparent screen and I was able to type in the terminal while Unity's search bar and shortcuts remained visible.

Identical problem on near-identical system background above. This should not be low-priority. The Dash search is a primary method for locating applications and tools that are not graphically listed.
I have been making an honest effort to adapt to the Unity desktop. I would have preferred not having my menu selections dumbed-down or pretty-fied for me. The broken Dash search make Unity even harder to adjust to.
I understand that Ubuntu is attempting to position itself for better graphics performance in the future, and these are bumps in the transitional path. And I'm sure the Dash will be fixed eventually. I just wanted to inject that this should not be a low-priority issue.
