Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

After upgrading from 10.10 and having the package cdemu installed, the system crashes when starting X. Going into safe mode and removing cdemu through sudo apt-get remove cdemu-daemon resolves the problem.

Same problem here. Alas, it was sufficient to prevent vhba.ko kernel module from loading.
I got a kernel oops as follows:

My conclusion were, that the xserver is not involved. Presumably the cdemu applet just triggers something when it is loaded as part of the user's session.

Does the problem persist with the latest version of vhba and the rest of the cdemu stack?

It's been 1 month and no answer so based on the fact that removing the cdemu daemon remedied the problem, I'm going to presume it was a vhba issue and most likely already fixed upstream (current version works fine on kernel 3.0.0 or prior). Marking as Invalid bug for xorg-server.
