Bug Description

Install from Feisty Herd 1 live CD goes just fine until right after clicking next after keyboard selection. Immediately upon clicking video gets corrupt and machine locks. I found several other instances of this in the forums:

http://www.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=320373 (3 reports)
http://www.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=322196 (2 reports, including mine)
http://www.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=321449 (1 report)

My system:

Supermicro 370DDE mobo
2 x P3/1000
1GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4400

Let me know if there's any logs or anything you might need, although I don't know what I can get with a hard lock on the live CD.

Thanks

It also happens with a Matrox G450 video card, it seems to be selecting the highest possible resolution the card can do and ignoring the monitor limits.

Still found in build 20061204 on two different systems

First System Info: (tried on two different monitors)
Compaq deskpro P3 866
Chipset Intel i815
Compaq onboard VGA
Compaq TFT 5010 LCD Monitor
Compaq P720 CRT

Second System Info
Celeron 700 white box
Onboard Video
Compaq TFT 5010 LCD Monitor

Video becomes unusable immediately after you click next on "Step 4". Top toolbar takes half the screen and system locks up.
