Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

The right click context menu on nautilus and the desktop does not have a drop shadow, where as this is present for all the other right click context menus that I have come across. I suggest consistency in the drop shadows.

I don't think this is a theme issue, as this happens with both Ambiance and Equinox Evolution.

I can confirm this as well, shadows do not appear under menus when right-clicking on the desktop. However, I don't have this problem in Chromium; going to install Chrome to see if there's any difference....

I've tried all the suggested configurations provided here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1521911
None of them seem to work for menu shadows on the desktop, though I have yet to see if they affect the ones in Chrome/Chromium.... Will report back.

I can confirm this as well.
Running Ubuntu 11.04 with Nvidia graphics and there is no shadow when I right click at the desktop.
Seems to work in Chrome and Firefox, but not Nautilus for example.

Also tried the suggested configureations from ubuntuforums, without any luck!

I can also confirm this bug.No right click shadows in nautilus.
Running Ubuntu 11.04 with Nvidia proprietary drivers.
In the past I would apply one of the following configurations from this thread in order to solve this problem,

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1521911

but these do not seem to work anymore.

I am also having the same issue. For me, also, desktop redraws are incredibly slow (Clicking on an icon on the desktop until it becomes highlighted and when dragging to get a selection box, the box takes forever to draw).

Tried the above suggestions as well, with no success.

Marked as Confirmed, as this happens with me too, and many other commenters too, so ask any questions, logs which might help in finding the problem and fixing it.

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04, and the shadows appeared as required.

I then installed the patched nautilus (nautilus elementary) from https://launchpad.net/~am-monkeyd/+archive/nautilus-elementary-ppa. After restarting my session, the right-click shadow disappeared.

On using ppa-purge on the ppa mentioned above, the right-click dropshadow returned.

I guess that it was nautilus elementary that caused the problem. If someone else can confirm this, I think this bug can be closed, as nautilus elementary is not being maintained, as far as I know.

This isn't a bug in Ne, It's a bug in Compiz/GTK. If you disable the RGBA colormap in the tweaks tab of preferences the shadows will appear normally.

Hi
I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 and I have disabled RGBA colormap option, but it does not fix this issue: http://i.imgur.com/5detT.png
Context menus in other applications work as should

Is there some other fix?
