Bug Description

In testing my new netbook, I discovered that when I return from
S4 that 2/3 of the screen is black/garbled.

Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04

ppetraki@ppetraki-AOD255E:~$ apt-cache policy linux-image-generic
linux-image-generic:
  Installed: 2.6.38.8.22
  Candidate: 2.6.38.8.22
  Version table:
 *** 2.6.38.8.22 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expectations:
To return from S4 with a fully functioning display

Actual Results:
A black/garbled imaged that covered 2/3 of the screen. The
system remained responsive.

Workarounds:
I discovered that if I cycle S3 while in this predicament, the
screen is restored. Note, I tried switching back and forth to
the virtual console without any success. Even the virtual
console was a mess.

A picture of the failure is attached

Hi Peter, probably this bug is the same as bug 745304

Can you install kernel 2.6.38-9.43 from proposed updates and check this is solved with it?
