Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Sorry if this is filed under the wrong package.

The title bar text doesn't change when it should. This is most noticeable in firefox when I switch tabs. For example I'll have google open and the titlebar text says "Google - Mozilla Firefox", which is great, but if I switch the tab over to Yahoo it still shows "Google - Mozilla Firefox" until I alt-tab to a different window or switch desktops, at which point it redraws properly. This also happens in Terminal and other applications that use tabs.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

I am not able to reproduce this problem here. I have several tabs opened in firefox and terminal and switching between them is updating the title as it should(Note: this is the maximized case). Did you try to logout and then reproduce the issue?

Yes, it's reproducible 100% of the time. It always stays the same when switching tabs until the window loses focus (at which point it updates). I've rebooted and logged in/out a number of times with no effect.

It does only happen when the window is not maximized. When the window is maximized it seems to work properly.

Attached a screenshot of the bug in action, showing the Google title text remaining after switching to the yahoo tab.

I have same problem in Ubuntu 10.10. Similar bugs are #666501, #670430 and #648381. I think that Compiz has a problem with redrawing of the title bar. Read info in the mentioned bugs.

I'm sorry I thought that writing "bug" isn't needed for displaying as link.

Thanks, those look similar, except I'm not getting any redrawing when mousing over the titlebar, it keeps the wrong title text until the window loses focus or is maximized.

An update, I installed an Nvidia card (to replace the ATI card I had) and the problem is no longer present. I believe this issue may be ATI-specific.

I have completely same problem when using Compiz in Ubuntu classic. Also the window title sometimes look like inactive even if it has focus and the titlebar of previous active window appears like active. I've attached screenshot of this behaviour.

It's a problem with fglrx, the window decorations don't update properly. I've marked this as a duplicate of a problem I've reported myself.
