I think that the new kernel don't have sata or ide driver in native. I hope that this problem would be corrected in few days. I'm trying to re-compile this new kernel to test this.

Sorry for my english.

For me, I don't have any problem with 2.6.19 Kernel. Boot working good.

Salut,

KVTT

OK, please send me your /boot/grub/menu.lst ?
Thx.

If antone needs to keep using Feisty and wants to use the 2.6.19 kernel then you can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst making the 2.6.19 line a comment instead of an instruction.

From French into English.

"Hi,

I did a clean install [of Feisty] and then an apt-get dist-upgrade.

What I noticed was :

- the 2.6.20-2 kernel's entry is not written automaticly, doing an update-grub resolves this problem

But when I reboot, using the 2.6.20 kernel or the 2.6.19 one, I have a "kernel panic" message.

Maybe the problem doesnt come form the kernel itself but from the prephase of loading (initramfs) ?

Anyway I update my computer regularly waiting for a solution.

See you.

KVVT."

PS : Please KVVT try to write in English cause I wont be here to translate all your messages ;)

I do not experience this bug personnally (but another one >_<) but a lot of people, at least on the French Ubuntu Forum, seem to be having trouble with that : should I set the bug to confirmed ?

I got also the same error with my Feisty :

[ 9.909674] Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
[ 9.909745]

What can I do now ? My machine is freezed !!

What does mean "Try passing init= option to kernel" ?

Help it welcome

To boot another kernel press a key when you see the GRUB menu. Select a different kernel to use.

The problem is probably related with the initramfs-tools update. This is the link to the initramfs bug:

Can anybody confirm that?
