Unity or Compiz gets stuck

Bug Description

Unity became stuck. I could alt-tab between apps, and type in them, but not invoke the launcher in any way. gdb and strace output attached.

Yes, I could. Weirdly, it seemed I could use the dash, invisibly. I
could hit the Windows key, see nothing, type mumble, hit enter, and
Mumble would start.

I faced the same issue today. Seems to be a stacking problem. The launcher and dash are coming *behind* the application windows. To fix this problem, I minimized all applications and then restored them again. That fixed it for the time being

I wasn't able to find a pattern to reproduce this, and it happened to me only once, so its not 100% reproducible.

Several such stacking issues with compiz have been fixed, and I can't reproduce this anymore. Mark?

I haven't seen this in a while either, happy to mark it fixed and will
file another bug if it regresses.
