I have the same issue on Ubuntu 10.10. An interesting thing is, that Nautilus doesn't need to have focus. Once I edit file name, Nautilus will crash any time I press Caps Lock.

Linux Mint 11 "Katya", Nautilus Elementary 2.32.2
After one and half year of annoyances from this "CapsLock" problem (every time when CapsLock was pressed, no matter if Nautilus has focus or not, Nautilus restarted), today removed, purged "icotools" (gnome-exe-thumbnailer) package, from other reasons and this problem has gone and nautilus speeds up browsing files! (Sorry for my english.)
