Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-settings

The 2nd monitor is not enabled when installing 11.4. That means, that we have to install nvidia-settings and activate it. Beginners shouldn't have to do that.

There is no xorg.conf to parse or only a bogus one, so settings cannot be saved.

When activating the 2nd monitor, the app decides that it will be the primary even though the other monitor has been selected for that task. we have to re-launch nvidia-settings for things to be applied properly.

It seems to have worked...

I also got these errors in the console window, but I have no idea where to report problems with "ubuntu-bug".

Waiting to hear from Launchpad about your decision...

In 11.10, nvidia-settings has to be launched from konsole using kdesudo. It will complain when saving the settings the first time, but it will work: settings will survive a reboot.

The default menu entry in KDE launcher should be changed in 12.4 to include kdesudo and xorg.conf should be modified so that nvidia-settings can save its settings without complaining about any errors.
