Bug Description

Binary package hint: wireshark

In Wireshark's File menu there is an option to list the file set, but the file details are not updated, reporting the wrong modification time and size.

1678015 2011-04-17 07:37 /tmp/wiresharkXXXXZV4ttv
But the attached screenshot shows a file size of 24 bytes and modification time of 07:26.

This is a really minor issue.

This still shows the wrong size: 24 bytes in Natty.

Hi Ken, please don't confirm your own bug. Generally we need someone other than the original reporter to reproduce an issue before it can be marked confirmed.

I've tried a few things and I haven't been able to reproduce the symptoms you saw. Could you provide a more detailed step-by-step case to reproduce please? Once you have provided the steps, you can set the status back to New, and then once I've reproduced the issue I will set it to confirmed and forward it to the upstream Wireshark developers.

Thanks,
Evan

The bottom left shows that the file size is around 5 kB. The file list shows that the file size is 24 B. This is true of any file of any size for some reason.

Minor, but it's there.

The bug has been open over a year. It's safe to say it has been confirmed even if a simpleton like me has done so.

Still present in Precise 12.04.

Thanks for the video, I was able to reproduce it with that information.

The "don't confirm your own" rule isn't about competence or time the bug has been open. It is just because different people have different set-ups. As explained at <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status>:

"Confirmed bugs require confirmation from someone other than the original reporter. This helps ensure that the bug is applicable to Ubuntu in general, and not a problem with the reporter's system, therefore, please don't confirm your own bugs! "

I will forward this upstream to Wireshark shortly.
