Bug Description

I attempted to use my iPhone 4 iOS4.3 as an internet modem on my installation of Ubuntu 11.04 beta 2

I plugged my iPhone usb cord to my laptop USB port and iPhone mounted successfully.

turned on the iPhone Personal Hotspot and on my Ubuntu I went to network manager and clicked on Auto Ethernet which is the iPhone modem name recognized. After I clicked on it the network icon pulsed and the error box popped.

Here's content of dmesg command I issued in the terminal:

Downloaded new updates today through Update Manager, libc/iphone-set-info error was gone already. I think it was fixed by the new updates. But ipheth is still unable to connect to iPhone. Looks like it timed out because dhcp failed or unable to communicate with the device. I tried to alter the IPv4 addressing from auto to manual and entered the ip and gateway as well as the dns manually and it showed as connected but unable to communicate with gateway and internet. No ping responses.

Here's the result of my dmesg output:

Why is this marked as duplicate of bug #746717?

bug #746717 is a bug for ubuntu 11.04 Alpha and this bug is reported for ubuntu 11.04 Beta.

bug #746717 does not even mention about iphone tethering connectivity..

This bug shouldn't be related to bug #746717.

Please clarify this..

Please note that this bug is about ipheth involving connectivity of iphone ios 4.3 this is not about ALSA driver nor any audio problem.

Thanks..
