Try this PPA https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/fig and reboot

Let me know if the system stops freezing after installing this or not, and attach a fresh copy of your dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

yes, installed.

...'Let me know if the system stops freezing after installing this or not,'.... give me couple of days to observe some more. it looks ok. so far; before the new pkge installed I was getting quite frequently system freeze ups at the very log in screen, none after install. it appears that the system is a little preppier.

dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log attached taken AFTER the latest batch of updates installed.

regards.

follow up as promised.

it looks like it does a whole lot of good as things stand now - I installed it on 4 eee pc's and it just stopped, on all, erratic freeze ups and pure and simple unresponsive/hanged up systems.

will it be incorporated in the upcoming natty final release ? or should we watch during any future updates for it not to be overwritten ?

regards.
