Bug Description

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

My Plasma TV Monitor was coming up as 1024x768 after an upgrade to Natty. To restore the native resolution of 1360x768, I added the commands:

xrandr --newmode "1360x768_60.00" 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1360x768_60.00
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1360x768_60.00

To /etc/gdm/Init/Default

This fixed the resolution problem, but unfortunately has messed with the panel in Unity. I will attach a screenshot. Essentially the entire indicator area appears twice, side by side. Both "copies" are fully functional.

I tried switching to Unity 2D to see if somehow that would help, but it didn't make a difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you login to Ubuntu Classic session and see if the problem is there too, as you suggested the issue exists in both unity2d and 3d.

Also, is this a permanent issue or happens on certain conditions?

This problem happens consistently ever time I log in. Ubuntu classic,
however, works as expected.

Correction: Unity 2D works as expected, this only shows up in Unity 3D.

Yes, but not in unity2d which I am using as a workaround.

Unfortunately not, I just upgraded to:
3.8.16-0ubuntu1~natty1
from the ppa, restarted, and the result is the same as the screenshot from my previous post.

I think that maybe that's because you installed extra applets on Ubuntu 10.10. It happened to me because I had installed a battery applet on Ubuntu 10.10 and then when I upgraded I had 2 battery applets.

I may be wrong in your case, but it's what happened to me.
