Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I'm using Maverick and Natty, both installed using the default LVM encrypted method on the same hardware. When prompted to "Enter Passphrase" at the "Unlock the disk" menu the screen is corrupted in Natty when using the nouveau driver. (see screenshot). This doesn't happen when using the Intel or the Radeon driver for the appropriate hardware. I've tested this on multiple computers using AMD and Intel video cards. Only nouveau fails to display the screen properly.

Based on what I saw, it appears to be an issue with nouveau's handling of KMS.

A workaround is to switch to a different virtual terminal and back to tty7.

Hi Alex,

Please run 'apport-collect 762922' from the affected system so we get additional plymouth debugging information.

Please also boot with 'plymouth:debug' added to the kernel command line and attach the resulting /var/log/plymouth-debug.log.
