Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

I've got the ugly codecs installed. But when I go to open the .pls file that soma.fm spits out, nothing happens!

If I add it manually and try to listen to the feed, it doesn't work. But upon trying to listen to it a second time, suddenly it plays. Obviously it supports it, it just isn't processing the metadata correctly and getting to playing the stream the first time around.

Definitely not working correctly, this is a bug.

Please could you run in a terminal 'banshee --debug' and attach all the output information (while you are trying to reproduce this issue)?, also attach your '~/.config/banshee-1/log' file as a separated attach, Thanks.

I have the same problem, except that I couldn't make it work by retrying. It opens correctly in Totem, though.
You can reproduce it by opening the file "groovesalad.pls" automatically downloaded by going there: http://somafm.com/play/groovesalad.
I have attached the logs while opening `banshee --debug`, trying to open the "groovesalad" playlist several times, and re-adding the playlist.

I tried to reproduce it here again with banshee 2.1.0 from daily ppa repository but it works fine for me (Ubuntu Natty)

Ok, I installed Banshee 2.1.0.
When going on the page http://somafm.com/play/groovesalad, Firefox asks if you want to open it or download it.
 * if I download it and try to open it ("open with banshee", or drag & drop as a new playlist), it won't work;
 * if I tell it to open the file with banshee, it will indeed play the music (without displaying it as a playlist);
 * if I got to File > "open location" and open the playlist's url (http://somafm.com/groovesalad.pls), it works.

So I think Banshee 2.1.0 solves the problem for the streamed playlist (not for a local file). Or maybe it worked and I had only tried from the downloaded file, I'm not sure.

I'm on banshee 2.0 on natty and also am unable to play groovesalad.
  * Attempting to play it a second time as original reporter says, did not work in my case
  * Going to Media > Open location and loading the URL, did not work in my case
  * Downloading locally to ~/groovesalad.pls and then Importing as playlist, did not work
  * Going to Media > Open location and specifying ~/groovesalad.pls, did not work; just advances to next radio station in queue.

Here's what I did to get it to work: I opened groovesalad.pls and got the first stream URL from the file:

     File1=http://streamer-dtc-aa03.somafm.com:80/stream/1018
     ...

Went to Media > Open location and pasted in the url "http://streamer-dtc-aa03.somafm.com:80/stream/1018".

Specifying http://somafm.com/groovesalad.pls as the Stream URL appears to work as well.

What do you mean with "Needs 2.1?". The version you chose for the bug is 2.2.0.

Changing the summary because this may be a more generic problem, as reported in
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gnome.mono.banshee/12010

Can we have some debug logs attached please?
