Bug Description

In the Dash, two of the search category header icons are showing square+lens icons rather than standalone+glow icons. To reproduce:

  1. Press <Super> to open the Dash
  2. type 'b' to produce some search results

What happens:

  a. A plus in a lens in a square is shown before the word "Applications"
  b. A document in a lens in a square is shown before the words "Files & Folders"

What should happen:

  a. A glowing pair of scissors should be shown before the word "Applications"
  b. A glowing white star should be shown before the words "Files & Folders"

Desired icons (left) and current icons (right).

Ideally the icons on the left should be used.

Some further clarification over this; for these group-* icons the paths are hardcoded to read from a specific location. It is not the change from .svg files to .pngs but the change in pathname. The pathname and the icon location require simultaneously changing. To avoid a half-and-half situation this requires adding "Breaks:" to the meta-data in the .deb to ensure a smooth upgrade.

The solution at this stage therefore has to rely of not changing the pathnames. One possible solution is to embed the .pngs into .svg files (this uses a url:// and base64 encoding). The files will be approximately 25% larger from the base64 encoding. I'll look in to confirming if this is possible.

Script to wrap a PNG/JPEG/other raster image base64 encoded inside a minimal SVG wrapper.

This appears that it will need a code tweak too; the large-size 'applications.png' and 'files.png' are being overloaded from the Launcher and also used in the dash.
