I'm currently completing version 0.5.0 which implements multiple feeds selection and atom support, among other things. As it's for natty, what is the numbering scheme that I should use? Is 0.5.0-0extras11.04.1 for natty and 0.5.0-0extras11.04.1~maverick1 for maverick ok? Thanks.

I found a bug. For example when I set it NOT to be on top of other windows it still stays on top. So I can't use it at all. Sorry about reporting bug like this, but couldn't find another way in Launchpad.

Ubuntu 10.10, w/o Compiz (eg 3D desktop)

'News RSS Ticker' has been renamed 'Tickr' and is now in Debian Sid.
I have also made a sync request: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/857830

Thanks Emmanuel. Since we're about two weeks out from the Oneiric release, the only changes we're making are for critical bugs. But, we'll make sure Tickr gets synced as soon as the P repository is opened. And, if you want Tickr to appear in Oneiric, we can run it as either an ARB app, or apply to have it added to backports.

Thanks Allison. What do you think is most conveniant?

Since you're already familiar with the requirements for ARB, that's probably simplest. And, it's only for one Ubuntu release cycle, so it might not be worth learning a new process. If you want to do that, start now, get the Tickr package up in your PPA compiled for Oneiric. Since the ARB already reviewed and approved the package when it was called News, the review process should be straightforward.

But, if you expect that you'll often want to make updates to Tickr in the middle of an Ubuntu release cycle, it's worth learning how backports work. Backports are the standard way to provide an updated version of a package for older versions of Ubuntu, when that package is already in Ubuntu. For a backport, you need to apply after Tickr appears in the P archive.

Thanks. As I will make updates, I think I should go for backports.

When will that happen (approximatively) ?

That makes sense. It'll probably be within about 2 weeks after the Oneiric release. But, you can create a Launchpad ticket for it as soon as oneiric-backports opens, mention that the package is in Debian, and expected to be in P, and mark the ticket "Incomplete" to show that it's waiting for the Debian sync. You'll know that oneiric-backports is open when this page exists:
